Energy Efficient Retrofitting
ANR has a long and strong history of incorporating energy-efficient improvements into our rehabilitation work of aging housing stock. We have served as a Development Partner and General Contractor to more than twelve cities and non-profit organizations who received federal grants to acquire and rehabilitate foreclosed properties, with an emphasis on incorporating green building improvements. Additionally, we have enjoyed a long and successful partnership with Enterprise Community Partners who “wrote the book” on energy-efficiency in affordable housing, developing the Enterprise Green Communities Program, a set of criteria equivalent to LEED-qualification for affordable housing.
Energy-efficient retrofit enhancements of a home include a wide range of improvements, including but not limited to the following:
- Energy-Star appliances
- Tankless water heaters
- High-efficiency HVAC units
- Low flow plumbing fixtures
- LED lighting
- Insulation
- Dual-glazed ‘Low E’ windows
- Use of drought-tolerant California native plants with drip irrigation systems
- Solar panels
- Low VOC (eco-safe) paints
